Technical details
A drum pump gets the liquid out; a flow meter tells you how much. Lutz TR and TS series flow meters mount directly on the drum pump outlet or in fixed pipework, forming a complete metering system with local display and remote automatic control. The whole range carries CE certification, and explosion-proof versions are additionally ATEX approved.

How to choose
The two series are not successive generations but cover different duties. Three questions decide it:
- Viscosity: above 20 cps the TR is ruled out and the TS is required. Most oils and coatings exceed that threshold.
- Flammability: solvents, thinners and similar flammable media require the TS with an explosion-proof relay module, paired with an explosion-proof drum pump.
- Automatic batch control: if an operator reads the display and stops the pump manually, the TR is sufficient and far lighter (from 0.23 kg). To stop automatically at a preset quantity for batch dispensing, the TS is required.
Temperature and pressure also matter: the TR is limited to 10–40 °C and 2 bar, while the TS covers 60–80 °C and 4–10 bar. Fixed pipeline installation, or any medium above ambient temperature, generally points straight to the TS.
Building a metering system
Paired with a Lutz drum pump, these meters provide local and remote automatic control, and can equally be used with other pulsation-free pumps, in-line pipeline fluids or gravity-feed systems. They suit media of any pH from thin to viscous and are widely used in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, household chemicals, coatings, food, surface treatment and water treatment. The modular design lets the configuration grow from simple indication to full batch control, keeping investment cost controllable.
