Technical details
+GF+ (Georg Fischer) thermoplastic piping systems are a proven solution for chemical, water treatment and corrosive-media service, covering valves, pipes, fittings and jointing technology. Compared with metal pipework, engineering plastics offer corrosion resistance, low weight, no scaling and fast installation, making them particularly suitable for acids, alkalis and sodium hypochlorite. +GF+ is the principal piping and valve brand used in Dalian Roy Pump's packaged dosing and water treatment systems; we supply the +GF+ piping range and carry out design, prefabrication and welding of the skid pipework.
Valves and Actuation
Pneumatic Diaphragm Valves
Diaphragm valves offer a dead-space-free, fully drainable flow path in which only the body and diaphragm contact the medium, with the stem and moving parts fully isolated. Compared with ball valves, they resist seizing in crystallising or particle-laden chemical lines and allow throttling control, making them the preferred choice for dosing branches, sampling lines and frequently cycled duty.
Principal types are Type 514 (threaded sockets), Type 515 (spigots), Type 517 (flanged) and Type 519, with bodies in PVC-U, PVC-C, ABS, PP-H and PVDF. Fitted with a DIASTAR pneumatic actuator they become pneumatic diaphragm valves, available double-acting, fail-open or fail-closed; fitted with an e-DIASTAR electric actuator they become electric diaphragm valves, which can also be retrofitted after the pipework is installed.
Ball Valves
Available with manual, electric or pneumatic actuation. The true-union design simplifies removal and maintenance, and the full-bore flow path keeps pressure loss low — suited to dosing headers and duties requiring rapid isolation.
Butterfly Valves
Available with manual, electric or pneumatic actuation. Compact, lightweight and low in operating torque, they suit isolation and coarse control on larger-bore cooling water, make-up water and circulating lines.
Pipes and Fittings
The +GF+ piping range includes PVC-U, PVC-C, PVDF, ABS, PE, PB and PP-H, together with double containment (pipe-in-pipe) systems for leak capture and secondary protection on hazardous media. A full range of matching fittings is available, including elbows, tees, lateral tees, reducers and double containment fittings.
| Material | Key Characteristics | Typical Use in Dosing and Water Treatment |
|---|---|---|
| PVC-U | Low cost, easy solvent cementing, good rigidity | Ambient water service, dilute acid and alkali dosing lines |
| PVC-C | Higher temperature rating than PVC-U | Warmer acid/alkali duty, hot water lines |
| PP-H | Good alkali resistance, heat-fusion weldable, tough | Caustic and most inorganic salt solutions |
| PVDF | Resists strong acids and oxidisers, wide temperature range, high purity | Sodium hypochlorite, concentrated acids, high-purity water and pharmaceutical lines |
| ABS | Good low-temperature toughness and impact strength | Low-temperature refrigerant and chilled water lines |
| PE | Flexible, electrofusion weldable | Buried installation, municipal water mains |
Note: actual chemical resistance depends strongly on concentration, temperature and pressure, and the same material can behave very differently at different concentrations. Final material selection should be confirmed against the +GF+ chemical resistance data for the specific duty; we are happy to assist with this check.
Jointing Technology
Depending on the application and material, joints can be made by solvent cementing, electrofusion, infrared welding, bead-free welding, butt fusion, socket fusion, flanges, threaded connections or clamp couplings. We operate a range of fusion welding machines and ancillary equipment, including butt-fusion and socket-fusion machines, allowing skid pipework to be prefabricated in our workshop so that only a small number of connections remain on site — shortening installation time and giving consistent weld quality.
Value in a Packaged Dosing System
A significant share of dosing system failures originate not in the pump but in the pipework and valves: chemical crystallisation blocking check valves, incorrect material selection causing swelling or cracking, valves seizing so the line cannot be isolated, and flange leaks corroding the base frame. As a packaged dosing system manufacturer, Dalian Roy Pump designs and prefabricates +GF+ valves and pipework together with Milton Roy metering pumps and +GF+ instrumentation on a single skid, covering material selection, line sizing, support layout and welding procedure as one coordinated package.
